Was having a look at this last week - to have something that the kids can play with it seems you have to buy a lot of different equipment: - the pi, SD card, USB hub, keyboard?

Is there any company that packages up a starter kit that contains all that you would need to start with?

RS do one pretty much. You can by a card with an OS pre-installed, case, power adapter etc.

I run both of mine headless currently but I am thinking of getting another and leaving it connected to the TV downstairs...

How many people don't have an old keyboard/mouse/SD card lying around? You don't need a USB hub either, but they're hardly going to break the bank.

The Maplin offer is ridiculously over priced unless you really don't have any spare bits of kit stashed in the loft.

I took my iPad on holiday recently and "dialled" in to my Raspberry Pi's... Just so they didn't feel lonely I left them playing chess against each other...
