You can even share a folder with another dropbox user, so that any file placed in that shared folder is updated on both users accounts if that makes sense

      No.

You can share a folder with them, if they are on Dropbox. You can share a file that is in your Public folder by giving a URL.

But there is no way of being secure and not being within Dropbox.

From the web site you can get a shareable link to any file within dropbox regardless of where it sits and send this to people who are not on dropbox

If anyone is thinking of signing up to DropBox, though, I could really do with some more referrals as I'm running out of space (from my one referral so far ) - http://db.tt/FrEcIFR

As an incentive - sign up to Dropbox and you'll find out my real name. There's an offer you don't get every day.

Everytime I go to a new gig I sign up with the client email address and computer increasing my storage.

How? I thought that only files in your public folder had a link? I couldn't see anything on the help text about how to do it.

When you highlight a file or folder on the website a drop down menu appears on the right hand side, one of the options is "get shareable link"

                  Hmmmm - not for me I don't.

On a normal file, the options are
                  • Previous versions
                  • Download file
                  • Move
                  • Rename
                  • Copy to
                  • Delete

If the file is in the Public folder, then I get an additional option of "Copy public link"

With iDisk I could share a file, secure, with anyone and provide an expiry date of the share. Must be solution.

that was fast. Took about 30 seconds to upload and share that image
