I'm not considering turning it down. If I'm offered it I will take it.

It would be a good career move. Although it might result in extreme boredom.

If I get really bored, which is quite often, especially in long meetings, I make little ticks on a piece of paper for every euro entering my bank account. Then sometimes I go for a 20 euro dump. Sad, but it works for me.

If someone phones you up and offers you an airy fairy handwaving job, although you consider yourself a concrete technical sort of person, would you go for it if the money was good?

Nothing that concrete. I would basically be stating the obvious. Several times. Probably until my patience wore thin.

Even if I were utterly technically incompetent the chances of anyone noticing would be exceedingly slim.

There are a great many profitable Blue Chip Companies whose hierarchical structures are awash with people performing such roles. Just take the money.
