In northern Ireland the bottom will probably be reached in another year or so (60%-70% off the 2007 peak price).

As for the rest of the UK I'm clueless but I've just been told that the desirable family bungalow in Bucks that was worth £500,000 in 2007 is now worth a minimum of £650,000. So different places definitely have different prices.

I put an offer on a property last week in Walton-on-thames.

£995,000 for a bog std 4 bed house in a busy street. I was outbid by another buyer within 2 hrs of making the offer.

I'm guessing now is not the best time to buy in the SE.

What _family_ would want to live in a bungalow, unless they were all in wheelchairs or something?

To my mind, bungalow == pensioner.

Just make sure that whatever you go for it has a landing strip for your tornado.

Correct. Its not my house, its a bungalow owned by a member of the family.

Mine is the 5 bedroom house up north without a mortgage.

Apparently hordes of foreigners, such as Russians and Chinese, are currently buying property in London and nearby.

I imagine all this unrest in the Middle East has also prompted well-heeled buyers from those countries to want to buy a potential bolt hole. Can't blame them, if they can.
