Right then, what is a good £50 graphics card?

Ideally it will support FSX and Command & Conquer Generals / Red Alert 3 @ 1920x1200 with worthwhile detail levels. If it came with Civ V as a freebie that would be good as well.

Well now I have a massive spreadsheet and a headache and I'm no closer to choosing what to buy.

If you weren't such a skinflint, you'd simply buy the most expensive instead of quibbling over a couple of hundred quid.

While working I'll happy spend money one month towards the end of a contract I will cut back until I've renewed or found something new.

Buy the £30 card and wait until renewal. Then offload the old computer to someone else.

The most expensive might not even fit his motherboard. It might well also cause his power-supply to explode.

I think I'm going to spend a bit more on the card and make the PC last until it's planned expiry date. The CPU is a bit long in the tooth (E6600) but I should get at least another 12 months out of it before an upgrade is required.
