In that case I'd look to spend about £50.Originally posted by doodab View PostHeating my spare room
It's a jack of all trades really. I don't use it that often as I've been working overseas for the last couple of years, but it was used for work, usually in a VM, a bit of music making, the usual photo editing, document editing, internet surfing that any modern computer ought to cope with, and like I say the odd game of FSX or C&C.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

This thread is full of sad permies who can't afford to spend a few grand on a nice computer thus drastically devaluing their CUK Forum experience

Before I went contracting in 2006 I bought the dogs knackers of graphics cards,XFX Nvidia 8800 GTX, it died in early 2010, my invoices, accounts and VS looked great in 1920x1080.

It said lifetime warranty, but "the lifetime warranty is only valid in the US"

So went and bought a Asus Nvidia 470GTX, which is now no longer made.

Asus are my preferred manufacturer for mobos and graphics cards as I have never had one die on me.Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.Comment

Right then, what is a good £50 graphics card?
Ideally it will support FSX and Command & Conquer Generals / Red Alert 3 @ 1920x1200 with worthwhile detail levels. If it came with Civ V as a freebie that would be good as well.Last edited by doodab; 7 June 2011, 14:28.While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you.
