not BirminghamOriginally posted by TimberWolf View PostForeign is a big place, have you anywhere in mind?
Ah, foreign and hot. And presumably some place where you won't get squished by an elephant or attacked by a grizzly while inside a tent. Birmingham?
my aim is to go russia, mogolia, china, hong kong then fly back.
the missus, being a namby pamby, airy fairy, arty farty, wishy washy, politically correct, lefty scum sucker, is a bit wary
so the plan for 2011 is---
WEST MEETS EAST
Manchester, portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Austria (possibly Hungary) Russia - Manchester
I need to know if there are any Russians or Ukranians on the board who can help me out here

What's the tent for? Are you going to stay in grotty tulipholes that will part you from large chunks of your money, or are you going to avoid hotels and use campsites instead?Originally posted by EternalOptimist View Postnot Birmingham

Do you cycle? You want to get yourselves a tandem and do the golden ring of Russia. Sounds right up your back alley, so to speak.Comment

I think a large part of the attraction of such an adventure would be wild camping, seeing the real thing and not just hotel rooms. Bonus is there's not much in the way of dangerous wild animals in mainland Europe, only humans.Originally posted by TimberWolf View Postavoid hotels and use campsites instead
Even if wild camping is a touch too far, there are loads of cheap campsites. I'd be tempted to take a vehicle that could double as a bed for the night too. More options you have the less hassle you have finding somewhere to kip down.Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it
