    That's a good point. I've always made sure my hands (well, fingertips mainly, as they are the only bits involved) are properly clean before sticking them in my eyes, so never had anything like that. Seemed like common sense.

      20 minutes + a mirror !!!
      Hold eye open with one hand, pop lens in with other - 2 secs per eye.
      To remove - hold eye open with one hand, pinch lens with other - 1 sec per eye
      Forget blink reflex, your lids are being held open.

        That's just the first few days I'm talking about. Holding lids open made very little difference. In that case, my neck used to jerk my head away. My eyes just aren't genetically disposed to having things poked in them!
