I have terrible binge drinking problems and see a counsellor for it.
It's getting a lot better and rarer but I don't trust myself not to do it if I'm left to my own devices (away on business etc).
I don't like the psychological and physical after effects of drinking too much, mainly because I don't like the idea that I can lose control of somehting and turn into a runaway train. I've been told that ultimately the answer is total abstinence but I'm not ready to face up to that either so just regularly have a few drinks here and there to keep the 'demon' quiet.
This is prolonging the inevitable I know but at least I'm not in any form of denial. There are books and programs you can go on where you go out and just have x amount then stop until you have it under control and not vice versa.. haven't tried any but could be worth a look:
Control your drinking - overcome alcohol dependency, addiction and abuse. Learn to quit or drink responsibly
This is the book recommended by my CBT counsellor"Is someone you don't like allowed to say something you don't like? If that is the case then we have free speech."- Elon MuskComment
