I would have thought there were many more people potentially not 'completely' straight, than there are potential paedophiles. Hopefully that's not wishful thinkingPractically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

The first one is probably pretty cut and dry and there is a lot of research to back it up.Originally posted by MaryPoppins View PostI would have thought there were many more people potentially not 'completely' straight, than there are potential paedophiles. Hopefully that's not wishful thinking
The second one is a hot potato. Partially thats what the article was discussing. I think concerning the concept of paedophilia would have to be split between prepubescent and pubescent.
I warrant there isn't a guy on this site who hasn't clocked a fit bird at distance when driving a car, turned to look and realised they're too young and quickly looked away!!!What happens in General, stays in General. You know what they say about assumptions!Comment

Absolutely. It's about intent I guess.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostThe first one is probably pretty cut and dry and there is a lot of research to back it up.

A guy I used to know very well is now on the sex offenders list for looking at very bad internet sites with young children on them. This caused a rift between a few mutual friends, a couple of whom felt that as he hadn't been proven to 'act' on anything he'd seen, it was no worse than viewing anything else online. Others felt that (the issue of condoning the abuse aside) it was completely unacceptable and deviant behaviour. It doesn't make him a paedophile, but it makes him (hopefully) unusual.Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

These things always get turned around, is he promoting homosexuality or just seeking equal acceptance?
Morals are a nonsense as they imply rigidity and too many tend to be founded on nothing or on instincts we no longer need to apply.
Start with what we know we want, the desires nature gave us. Those are pretty much expressed by the US thing of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Seek to deliver those things to the maximum number of people by practical means. As far as I'm concerned that means individual freedom unless there is a good reason in the public interest to limit it.
PS I'm talking about gays not paedophiles.bloggoth

It's a complicated matter, not made easier by the objectification of young women in the media.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostI warrant there isn't a guy on this site who hasn't clocked a fit bird at distance when driving a car, turned to look and realised they're too young and quickly looked away!!!
Natalie Portman in Star Wars = legally acceptable in a lot of places

A bloke in work was kicking off about how terrible it was that Elton John had male dancers dressed as scouts (this is going back 12 years). Sexploitation of the child and all that. The week before he was telling the office how great it was that the Stranglers used to tour with female dancers dressed as school girls.
He did not take kindly to the young graduate making a fool out of him in front if his peers.Comment
