Labour winning the election is like the elephant in the room, everybody knows it but are too scared to acknowledge it.

Sadly, the mantra of borrowing billions and funding an enormous public sector is paying off big time.

Eh? Thatcher won in spite of the Poll Tax and cruise missiles - despite overwhelming objections at the time. If you have some proper evidence that all public servants vote Labour, let's see it.

You are right, we cannot assume all public servants vote Labour. However we could probably assume that there is more vested interest in public servants voting Labour, because many owe their jobs to them.

BTW Thatcher didn't win in spite of the Poll Tax - the tories dumped her before the following election, and that probably contributed to the tories getting back in. Regarding cruise missiles, I don't recall that having a great public impact on votes.

However, she did get back in in 1983 following the recession of the early eighties, so public servants must have helped elect her then. I'd guess that was partly down to the Falklands and partly down to the Winter of Discontent still being relatively fresh in the memory.
