Some idiot spidering the site and pulling pages at such a rate it keeled over. Blocked their IP now so should be fine again now. Have sent them a nice email

Your spider is a well controlled beast. This one was pulling hundreds of pages per minute, 10 seconds tailing the logs was enough to see what was causing the problem. Was a company as opposed to a bedroom hero for once as well. Not impressed.Originally posted by AtW View Post

I'd recommend adding to robots.txt this line:
Crawl-Delay: 10
This way compatible bots would make 10 second delay between requests, very handy just in case...Comment
