The Huns weren't German. They were Asians, who spread to Europe via what is now Turkey and the Balkans. Me Great Uncle Attila (nein ich bin kein plastic German) was actually from somewhere in the Balkans, possibly in modern day Serbia.Originally posted by minestrone View PostHarland and Wolff moved to Govan and as they had a no Catholic policy so they were called the huns as both names were German. Since they got pulled for singing "up to our knees in Fenian blood" they have tried to say the use of Huns is sectarian.
The British started calling Germans Huns durng WWI, as in 'Tally ho chaps, we'll show the hun what British chaps are made of', prior to showing everyone that British chaps were made of flesh and blood just like all the other poor sods who got mutilated by machine guns.Last edited by Mich the Tester; 13 March 2009, 16:25.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument?
