AFAIK, PDF isn't really a fully editable format like Word. Using Adobe I can "touch up" a document, i.e. change words on a line, but replacing images, re-justifying long/short lines, no.

Yep, you can edit text but it is pretty basic.

I find it much easier to create what I need in a word processing programme (with any necessary tables or pictures) then PDF it up from there.

XPDF can be used for a lot of stuff, but you do need X11 to run it on.

You should be able to "Select All" text and just paste into Word
