I've Sky+'d so yet to see it.

Funny thing is, I never watched the original - was just 'aware' of it.
I remember the original gave me nighmares

Are there guns in this movie? If so, where they got them from?

That was my first main agenda, where did they get all their guns from?

I saw Eddie Izzard pinch some from a Police vehicle, fell asleep shortly afterwards though.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

The scene when he said "Help yourself to guns" (triffid guns in this case) whilst gesturing at a storeroom full of them at the triffid farm was a bit of a giveaway as well.

Still, we now know who would fail miserably when civilisation collapses. "Oh dear, where could I get guns from when every Police station and military base in the land is completely undefended?"

Actually, I was referring to the original BBC TV series.

As the initial premise of the story is that 99.9999% of the human race has been struck blind overnight, including the Police, you would encounter remarkably little resistance.

You really should acquaint yourself with the story before attempting to criticise it
