Giving it a go now. What practical use is it, or is it a geek toy?

Tried it on Monday for the first time. Was able to zoom in and identify a red splodge to colleagues as my neighbour's BMW 3 series coupe. Unfortunately when zooming in on other locations I was interested in there was much less detail. Apparently important places (like London) are held in greater detail.
