Cold turkey. Wasn't a heavy smoker; about 5 a day unless I was on a big night out. Was so fed up of feeling rough and having blocked sinuses etc that I started finding the taste and action of smoking unpleasant, rather than nice/familiar, relaxing etc.

The public smoking ban definitely helped
