Finding cheap flights

One other thought – cast your net wider to consider an internal flight to London from Newcastle. Also consider direct flights to the states from Manchester – continental are a good airline, and cheap as chips. United look cheap, but not used them myself. There is also a flight from Liverpool to the states, rumoured to be reliable as the only one, and very cheap. Good luck!

Do I need to search for them as 2 separate trips? The searches I'm doing include connections - are you saying it can be a better deal not to do that?

Sometimes you can do better with 2 seperate trips, but not often. Try it if you can be bothered. I don't know specifically about US sites but you may well have problems.

Once I had to come back from Montreal early. I couldn't change my ticket to the flight I wanted but I could buy a one way. Expedia US quoted something remarkably cheap like 300 CAN $. I couldn't book it because I didn't have a US or CAN card. Nobody else could book it for me because the name and ticket didn't match. Only option was a full price one way direct from the airline at about 3000 $. I didn't come back early.

As long as it's an e-ticket, there shouldn't be a problem.

When I bought my flights between the Hawaiian islands a few years back, it was the best way to do it, and I had no problems.

Interesting - I tried Newcastle to Las Vegas, and it found me flights from Nevis to Las Vegas.

I know that the climate of Nevis and Newcastle are similar, but even so!

OK - BMI flight from Manchester to Vegas (and back) flies Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday. You can get a return direct flight for under £550 in May.

that does mean flying BMI tho.
Longest flight i ever took was from Manchester to Belfast.
Ok, in real terms it took about an hour, but it felt like a fecking eternity

Their long haul is pretty good - I've flown to Washington with them before with no problems.

The Vegas flight came in early on Monday last week (or so the pilot mentioned).

I do Manchester to Heathrow every week - and have to put the blame on London EVERY TIME that it's screwy.
