    They're both great OS's.

OS X is much better than Mac OS thanks to it's 70's UNIX roots and XP/Vista are far better than the ever unreliable Windows 9x thanks to it's 70's VMS roots (NT was originally developed by ex VMS team members).

So stop moaning about each, they are both far better than the crap we used to have for either platform, and go to show programmers in the 70's were better, possibly because they wore lab coats and had beards.

Vista release wasnt great either, but we are disproving the myth that macs 'just work'.. and for the guy thinking about buying one, I was showing him it might be a good idea to wait.

Just admit Macs dont 'just work'.

Nope, I don't agree. Look at the Vista release...even the MS anti virus didn't work and was cited as the worst performer...

Vista had more bugs than the Amazon jungle. It was a mess...

            Sigh.....

Like being in a playground... Master System vs NES, Amiga vs ST, Windows 3.1 vs Mac OS, SNES vs Megadrive etc. etc.

Pointless arguments (the Amiga did crush the ST though )

I'd seen the reports of the copying problem and it actually seems fairly specific as to the circumstances under which it is repeatable.

By default Mac OS doesnt move files - deleting the original - unless it is within the same file system. When moving files between file systems it copies the file rather than moving it ( without deleting the original ).

When transferring between file systems it moves it only when you hold down the "option" key to force a move rather than a copy.

The default behaviour of the OS doesn't allow the bug to be reproduced. The file is copied not moved and the original is left intact.

Not saying it isn't a problem, but it's not as big a deal as might have been made out.

Now, bringing your PC to it's knees every time you copy a file over the network is another issue altogether, and one that still hasn't been fixed, to the best of my knowledge anyway

Sure did! But we arent defending Vista to the hilt, its called having 2 eyes, try it some time. You are the one that cannot accept the fact that Leopard has been a disaster of a release and blown the Mac mantra of 'it just works' completely out of the water. And the bad news for mac fans is that its only going to get worse in future releases.
