Thanks everyone - just saw my sis at lunch - we're going to speak to Mammy this afternoon once Dad has seen the consultant and then go home.

Guess I only posted the thread 'cos I needed to keep myself busy and I now know how many people who've had similar things happen and they've recovered ok, which is a relief.

Ferret - sorry for calling my thread Feck - and thanks!

Gladd to hear everything is ok.

If you still need to keep your mind of things then you can take my phone number and we can have text sex......(just a thought).

On a serious note, hope your dad makes a quick recovery
      Keep it clean!!!

Hope he's OK Cailin. I have known many people who have had strokes but recovered almost 100% - it just takes some time.

I can imagine what you must be going through - it is very emotional when parents are involved. Be strong for mum & dad.

Our thoughts are with you ...do let us know how it goes.

My dad had a minor stroke about 15 years ago, If it's only minor then usually they make a full recovery as the brain soon rewires itself. I wouldn't worry too much.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I believe TIAs are pretty common. My father-in-law had one, and he recovered fully.

            Best wishes.

My dad had a TIA and a stroke.

Obstinate b*gger won't admit it though - even though there is a scan that shows where it was!

My wife had a TIA. Fully recovered etc but scary at the time. Go, and you will sleep better.

get going girl. your dad will be in fine hands - your mam needs you. maybe stagger visits with your sister so that she has someone there over a longer period.

                    best of luck.

                      Hello everyone -

Just to let you know my Dad is doing much better - I actually spoke to him last night and he sounds shaky but seems ok. My mam asked not to come until Friday (tomorrow) so thats what we are going to do.

He's not had the results of the CT Scan so they won't confirm either way if it is a stroke or a TIA thingy. But Mam (she's a nurse) says if it was a stroke it was a very minor one 'cos he is doing so well.

Can't tell you all how much relief I feel. I don't want to think about him getting old and the stuff that went through my head yesterday was horrible.

Thanks a million for all your support and kind words. It mad isn't it - people who I've never even met being so genuinley (yeah yeah spelling!) nice, kinda restores your confidence in the world.
