Thanks I already do or have done both of these in realtime apps. Ada wouldnt be my choice for contracting, it spells defence, I cant think of anywhere else interesting that would use it. Thanks for the advice thoOriginally posted by Gibbon View PostMy advice, stay with the Ada/C++ and get into realtime stuff.

My advice would be push the C# and try for the banking sector. That is where the money is.I am not qualified to give the above advice!

In a word - yes.Im concerned that my first contract may expect me to go 'balls out' from the moment I sit down. Is this the case in the non-defence world?
That's why contractors are used, they're expected to walk in with no introductions (the hirer is normally off sick/forgotten you're coming), find out what they're doing, obtain as much Project background that exists (or start asking questions and documenting it if it doesn't exist). And they need to bring something to the Project almost immediately.
They're self-starters basically. In my experience this is the crucial difference between UK contractors and a cheaper off-shore contractor."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."
