Chester used to be quite a swanky place to go; now just a wanky place to go. Ellesmere Port's Outlet Village crippled it, though it was sliding downhill a bit even before then.

Is that a different place to the dreadful "Cheshire Oaks" complex with the cinema and all the generic chain restaurants such as Frankie & Bennys and that Chiquitos?Originally posted by richard-af View PostChester used to be quite a swanky place to go; now just a wanky place to go. Same place. I used to play in the fields where that is sited. Used to be newts, etc. there. I often wonder if the various anacient ponds in those fields were filled-in without any checks being made as to whether anything of note lived in them. I bet not.Originally posted by chicane View PostIs that a different place to the dreadful "Cheshire Oaks" complex with the cinema and all the generic chain restaurants such as Frankie & Bennys and that Chiquitos?Comment

And if you think Chester suffered from the opening of that place - have you ever experienced the pleasure of a visit to Ellesmere Port's legendary "town centre"?Originally posted by richard-af View PostSame place..Comment

Chester's a great place IMO. Went up there for a week a few months ago. I'd recommend a visit to Vito's Trattoria on Lower Bridge Street followed by a swift few at the Falcon just across the road (organic ales and ciders on draught there).Comment
