Passats, 3 yrs old, 1.9tdi

anybody got any experiences epinions ?

I had 1 (1999 1.9tdi 130bhp) for 3 years, done 40k in it no problem.

Traded it in earlier this year for a new mondeo because it wasnt boring enough.

So, as someone who is 6' 5", what should I be looking at then? I did try the Passat and found it to have a fair amount of space, but only with the seat back and tilted leaving very little room for rear passengers. Looking to replace my current motor in the next couple of months...

I too am looking at replacing my car in the next couple of months once i sell my house and and am looking at the new Mondeo Titanium X fully loaded with gadgets and free sports kit hmmmmm looks nice and i would be getting 57 mpg on my motorway journeys.

Your £25K mondeo will be worth about £8K in three yrs time. Can you afford to chuck £17,000 away on a Mondeo?

I'm 6' 8" and don't have any problems with our fleet of Audi A4 and VW Passats.

Perhaps it's a posture thing.

There seem to be a lot of dissatisfied Passat owners out there.

Obviously designing a car so that it leaks water onto the electronic control box in the footwell and providing it with malfunctioning electric windows isn't pleasing the customers a lot.

And there's a fair few pissed off Polo owners about, with much the same sort of complaints...

Too much electronic jiggery pokery that can't be fixed by the run of the mill spanner jockey.

It would appear the era of reliable cars has ended.

Circa 1993 or so.

I blame the invention of the CAN bus.

Mine done that, untill some ****ers put the window through and stole the cd player. Nice insurance people fixed it all then.

Electric windows? I find nearly all the cars here still have stick shift, gee-wiz it’s so difficult driving on the wrong side never mind the stick-shift and wind-up windows.

The new Ford Mondeo is much better than any VAG car. I pity the fools who are manipulated by marketing and "brands".
