He, like me, was cursed by his parents to never be cool or wildly successful. He's done very well for a Tim though!

ok, so he has something! his main issue has been the weight of expectation dumped on him by the public.Originally posted by TheFaqqerThree Wimbledon semi-finals, plus ending the year in the top ten ranked players in the world for five years, doesn't make him useless.
I don't particularly like the guy (for no reason, other than I just don't like him), but he's done surprisingly well, doesn't ram it down your throat the whole time, and avoids the media generally (apart from a few days every July). Much nicer than the annoying brat that is Andy Murray.
dont start me on the anti english ***** that is Murray and his brother...I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!Comment

I agree. If henman was a footballer who had been consistently named as a top 10 player for 5 yrs he would be seen as a great player. He also played during the era of great tennis players like Sampras and Agassi. He's provided us with years of excitment at wimbledon and has also reached the semi at the US and French. It you haven't played tennis and don't watch it all year round then you have no idea.Originally posted by TheFaqqerThree Wimbledon semi-finals, plus ending the year in the top ten ranked players in the world for five years, doesn't make him useless.

and when he's shagging his missus. Assuming that he does, of course....Originally posted by TheFaqqerand avoids the media generally (apart from a few days every July).
Or maybe he outsources that task to Greg R.Comment

He's had his chances, even against Sampras. All that remains now is a bit of Jeremy Bate'seque will he or won't he make it past the first roundThe court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

Granted, but lots of players had "chances" against Sampras - generally regarded as the greatest grass-court player (until Federer). To not beat Sampras at Wimbledon is hardly a sign of failure.Originally posted by BagpussHe's had his chances, even against Sampras. His best shot for the title was never against Sampras though - it was against Ivanisevic in 2001 that he should have won the semi final, at the very least.Comment
