Rome
I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!? -

It is not being hyjacked. There is a direct relationship between Rome and Deadwood.
HBO where involved in both. Both are fictional series based around true and near true events. Deadwood was originally going to be based in Rome but the BBC and HBO were already working on the Rome idea so it got moved to the USA frontier.
Rome started out a bit stilted but the acting and flow improved with each episode.
All told though, Deadwood was in a difference class and should never have been canned.Comment

Yeah I am halfway through first series of Deadwood and it's great. Especially potty mouth bar owener. Never heard the word c**t used that much especially from such a puritanical country like the US! Why did it get canned?Comment

Not absolutely sure.
I believe the original writer(s) didn't want to do any more. They had in fact got near to the end of the notable history of Deadwood.
I think they may be making some feature length films but probably not with the original cast.
Suspect WikiPedia or the HBO site will have the answers.Comment

Have a look at those sites because one of them tells you who was real, who wasn't, and what they did or did not do in real life.
Calamity Jane gets a bit of a pasting.Comment

Actually most of the main characters were based on real people.
Chinaman with pig pen, the main whore and the business women were fictional.
Both bar owners and the hotel owner were real as well as Bill, Jane, Bill's sidekick the postman, the sherrif and his business partner, the owner of the theatre and the man who wanted to own all the gold claims.Last edited by OrangeHopper; 22 June 2007, 15:40.Comment
