Hi I'm a newbie  and have a daft question :o

What the feck is a PSC anyway? Is it the same sort of thing as an umbrella? Or is it another name for our limited companies?

FFS - haven't you searched the boards! Just wait till SockPuppet sees this posting. He'll go beserk!

:D I did actually - it couldn't find anything for "PSC"!
That's because it can't. Someone mentioned that the other day. Can't be bothered to search for the thread though.

Personal Services Company. When I first heard this term I kind of imagined being with an high class escort girl who would, well, offer personal services.

And I'm probably going to get it from SockPuppet for giving in so easily to the question. :(

Well, I could, but it is far more amusing not to, and on that point some humourless prat will, no doubt, tell you shortly.

Hi newbie

A personal service company is what HMRC now call your limited company that supplies your services.

And if people will keep using it it will become a generally accepted term along the lines of "disguised employee" :spank:

There is no legal basis for distinguishing different types of limited company in this way and it should not be encouraged.
