Why not have your sofa recovered in something other than leather, I'm getting mine done in velvet with a scotchgard protection. I looked but couldn't find anything as well made as the one I had and re-covering seemed a good option.
Only a fool buys a sofa for cash unless they are physically loading it in the van the moment that the dosh is handed over.

There's a reason why furniture companies offer you a good deal for cash. It's because they are having cash flow difficulties. Processing the card costs a maxmum of 2%, a discount anything larger than this for cash should ring very loud alarm bells.
Bought a 3 and a 2 seat brand new black leather sofa off ebay 2 years ago for £500. The guy had them delivered next day. He had loads for sale at the time.
