When Victor Hugo's Les Miserables was first published, Hugo wrote to his publisher to enquire about its sales, with the laconic "?"; sales were excellent, so his publisher replied with "!", famously confirming the shortest correspondence on record.
I tried to reply to the OP with "?", feeling that more would have been superfluous, but the Board insisted that the message was too short.
