What would these people do if their time is not occupied?

      Create new art?

      Write new poems?

Or have picket lines at the rich folks mansions...

You can't afford it. Anyway, once you've brexited, you won't be able to come here any more.

People will find things to do. If we're talking a guaranteed basic income then an important word is "basic" - it would be enough that nobody would be left starving, but most people would still want to do something that gets them more money. But if we can stop pretending that people working is essential for their basic survival, then we can stop pretending that there have to be jobs for them to do.

For a start we can get rid of huge swathes of middle management. We all know that the vast majority of management structures in business exist purely to give the bourgeoisie a way of passing the time while extracting funds from society as a whole without having to get their hands dirty

Virtual Robotics, IoT and other advances in technology are going to change the way a lot on sectors work over the next decade or two. People will loose jobs, basic admin jobs in the financial will go, even mid to low end legal work will be at least semi automated.
For example, a lot of new cars will self drive or have telematics boxes/dash & side cameras built in as standard. The tech can be retro fitted into old cars too so no more disputes over who caused the accident. Injuries, and therefore damages to be awarded, will be predicted by the insurance company within seconds of the car reporting the accident. There goes jobs in insurance and the legal sectors.

It's way too early to talk about guaranteed income - there is lack of workforce in Western world that will pay taxes necessary to sustain pension Ponzi scheme, money should be EARNED otherwise it will only result in inflation.

Magic free money for everybody....have you considered this money HAS to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is from TAXATION.

Here's an idea, how about spending that money on improved health, infrastructure and pensions for WORKING people, and those lazy ***** not working get FECK ALL, which is what they DESERVE.

                    The problem isn't taxes.

The problem is if everybody stops working then suddenly there is no money equivalent of work being done - progress will stop because there will be no point spending 70 hour weeks trying to invent something new that would make things more efficient.

You presume that everyone will stop working.

Lots of people want more than their neighbour etc so will continue to work.

Lazy feckers, which we have already, won't work.

Personally I would do it so if you are more than 10 years away from state retirement you have to work. If you are 10 years or less you gave to do some voluntary work for x hours a month in exchange for your money.
