more commuting hell

Got to the train station for the 8:30 - which was cancelled. Not unusual for this service. But guess what? There's a fire midway between Bolton and M'str and there are no trains running at all between the two! And to top it off - a truck hits a bridge - causing furthur delay and the customer service people at Bolton have no idea which replacement bus is going where. After 2.5 hours - finally pull into my desk.

Rumours are that its another Gas Cylinder warehouse fire. Which by convenience is located next to the rail lines. How many of these types of fires have we had in the last three years?

lile, it took me six months of pure hell on the north west lancaster/preston/bolton/manc hell lines before I understood it was worth the drive. I suggest you do the same and quick.....firstnorthwestern are the biggest bag of understaffed, underskilled cr8p in this country

I didn't make it in today - managed to get to King's Cross, just about to get on the Hammersmith and city line and BLARGH! I vomited everywhere and decided to creep home.

This new place is getting the arse because they got contractors in because their staff are all ill, but they're infecting the contractors too!!!

At least it was a nice meal for the pigeons, rats and the occaisional hobo.

I forgot to mention that in the evening on the way home - the trains were still not being allowed through. So, wait 30 mins. for a bus to Bolton - which takes nearly 60mins. to get there. wait 30 minutes for a virgin to Preston and then run at Preston to catch the service to York. And then a bus home. 2.5 hours later ..I get home.

Those of you following will have surmised that I spent an equal amount of time commuting as I spent in the office.

And this morning - as usual the 8:30 was cancelled.

eurostar was delyed so got to the hotel in Paris after modnight, still get double pay for Sunday travel, 1st class, working today in clients office then travel back to London tomorrow evening, all at ether double rate or time and half....not so bad considering the contract should have ended last Friday !!! and I've now been handed a 3 month renewal.
