I just had a google for a really dark cocktail bar I took Mrs IJNTTI to when she came up for a weekend. Can't find it, but I found this if it's any use.

Ooh. It very well might be. I've just looked on google but I'm not 100% sure.

It was a basement place, quite an incongruous entrance, almost pitch black inside, thumping music; weird yet wonderful.

Yep. Sounds like it.

The Jazz bar is very hit and miss, depending on who's on. The house band is hmmmm adequate. I went one midweek night and there was some kind of charity thing which was little more than open mic/karaoke, absolutely dreadful, but didn't ask for a refund as it was for charideee ...

If you want some cracking live music of the folkie kind, try Captain's Bar, good craic!
