Man prosecuted for catching wild deer in London suburb and eating it at Christmas

A novice butcher narrowly avoided prison after stealing a live deer, killing and then eating it for Christmas dinner.

Mian Zeshan Shahid sliced the deer's throat before butchering it and bragging on Facebook that there was enough meat to feed ten people.

The 32-year-old father from Croydon, south London, was given a four-month prison sentence, suspended for two years after pleading guilty to two deer-related charges.
