Yes, we always used to think of it as required viewing but half-rubbish. I was surprised years later when I moved to France to find it described as "the legendary British programme". I well remember seeing Hendrix doing Hey Joe, Cream doing I Feel Free, and The Nice doing America on TOTP. It wasn't all rubbish.
Savile was though, you could see through him even then. -
