Not much directly. What they have done is that they have returned the economy to one where small businesses flourish just as they did under Thatcher (increasing the market for IT contractors for one). Labour kill economies by interfering and trying to manage markets.

Serious question as everyone seems to trot that out all the time.

Can anyone name ONE thing (at the risk of this turning into a 'What did the Romans ever do for us discussion), one PRACTICAL thing that the Tories have done in this parliament to improve the climate for micro/small business ??

They've added the earnings from pimps and pushers into the GDP figures. These people now have pride and dignity in their work, knowing their efforts are contributing to lowering the interest rates on government gilts.

Or is that something else they nicked from the Lib Dems?

No, I was responding to DA';s assertion that the Tories have increased the market for contractors.

The clue is the he mentioned the contractor market, but I didn't in my question. HTH.

Contracting is about 1/3. I do actually employ people (unrelated to IT) and also own and rent business premises, so I'm not just a tax avoiding contractor. I try to avoid it in other industries too.
