I had a non-bob client user use the phrase 'will revert back soon' in an email last week.

They have given the bobs their marching orders, so hopefully this silliness will stop.

Yes, sadly that one seems to have crept into everyday business speak. Have seen at least 3 managers at clientCo use it.

Not sure if this is true or not, but I read somewhere that 'Please do the needful' was a phrase often used by Churchill (the war time PM, not the dearly departed CUK poster).
