Do you want me to get one of my Bobs to phone you from our Bombay office? He works for Microsoft. He may also be able to help you with that virus issue on your laptop.
To be fair to the OP Excel is actually fairly complicated. It isn't as simple as the fix for most other things i.e. 'Have you tried turning it on'... I'll try and explain..
Firstly...'Have you tried putting the plug in and turning it on', switched on at the wall?
If that worked there will be a pretty picture on the screen with lots of small pictures to the left find one that says 'Excel' on it. It will be near the picture you use for internet shopping.
Press the button twice on the thing you have in your right handed when the funny arrow thing is over the Exel picture
If it starts vibrating, then you must be left handed. Press the button twice on the thing in your left hand instead.
A box with lots of little boxes in it will appear.
Problem solved.
HTH and YW.
I am so fond of waffle that starts with 'Firstly...'.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

I've PM'd you. MrExcel, as has been linked to before, is a pretty good message board for getting Excel problems solved. I manage to make far more substantial contributions on there than I do here.
Welcome to Chandoo.org - Learn Excel, Charting Online is also a pretty good Excel resource. Particularly if you have no clue how Excel works, it explains things in a very simple and attractive way. Well worth a look.
