I think it was unusual in that people voted SNP in Scottish elections and got them the majority which the PR system was designed to avoid but voted Labour in Westminster elections as a vote against the Tories. Now that Labour/Tory/LibDems have campaigned side-by-side in the Indyref, the voters can't see any difference so the Scottish parliament and Westminster votes are starting to align to an SNP majority.

In point of fact, fewer people voted SNP in this Election than voted YES in the referendum. I doubt Nicola will be pushing for another Indy Ref too quickly or when that goes belly-up it really WILL be over for a generation or more.

The SNP have played a masterstroke along with the tories, they destroyed Labour/LibDems, who will likely never win a majority in England for decades. It suits both the SNP to have the Tories in number 10 and suits the Torys to have SNP wiping out Labour in Scotland.

Yep Nicola is a canny operator she knows a quick referendum and another defeat will put it to bed for decades. Better to get more autonomy as a stepping stone to eventual independence when the time is right.

Yeah, but she should be careful what she wishes for. I'd bet her demands for more tax-raising powers and control over benefits will come back to haunt her.
If the Tories give her significant control over raising the cash locally for her "progressive" agenda then many of those who voted for her this time round will soon get a flavour of what it is like to be footing the bill personally rather than just benefiting from blowing the over-inflated Barnett-derived pocket money that they currently get to splash out with.
