Maybe fly from Leeds to Dusseldorf and then it's about 1 hour drive to Eindhoven. Train from Dusseldorf to Eindhoven is 2h15m.Originally posted by stek View PostTo all our resident Cloggies whats it like for getting to/from/staying in?
I don't want to do the NL thing particularly just a possible if nowt comes up - I am aware of the tax situation and I accept that, but if Eindhoven is well dodgy or boring or too hard to commute to I'll bin it.
For me on the face of it it's Fly from MAN or LBA to AMS (haven't checked flight costs/timetable yet) and train to Eindhoven? Or is DUS better? Or Eurostar to Brussels then ask?
Researching now with a pint in pub and while I might not be cut out to be a contractor I am cut out to be a pisshead before NLUK starts! And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Worked there for 3 months a few years back.
I really enjoyed it. Might have just been the project I was working on but the people were great and working conditions relaxed. Nice restaurants/cafes and bar street goes off on a Thursday.
Accommodation can be expensive and at times hard to find if Phillips are having a big shindig.
I flew from London City to Eindhoven then taxi, took about 2 hours door to door. Amsterdam to Eindhoven by train was fine, about an hour or so if I remember rightly.
If you want advice on places to stay in Eindhoven, places to eat etc PM me.Comment

So how do you deal with the tax situation in real life (I've read the guides here and there). I have been neglecting NL contracts for a while, mainly because the rate is normally similar or slightly more than for UK contracts, but commuting and confusing tax regulations make it look like a bad deal. I could live with travel costs out of my pocket, but going through the taxation hassle really puts me off. Maybe be it is not that bad ?Comment

It's about 1hr 27 from Schipol to Eindhoven, if he doesn't want to do Stansted.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostMaybe fly from Leeds to Dusseldorf and then it's about 1 hour drive to Eindhoven. Train from Dusseldorf to Eindhoven is 2h15m.
The taxation is not that bad only if you have a good accountant who knows what they are doing and you don't have a pushy agent who insists that you cannot use your Ltd but ( surprise, surprise) they know of a payroll company you can use.
Just make sure you do you research and get the facts from someone, preferably an accountant and not the pimp who knows what they are talking about. I have spoken with some people who have had good agencies who help them get sorted but they are few and far between.
Good Luck OP!Comment

Agent is playing the payroll people (CXC) card, I'm playing along, cos it's early days, promising 65% retention but if it gets to offer I'll start playing my UK limited card.Comment
