    Sharepoint

Anyone know of someone who has done either Sharepoint development/configuration work or Sharepoint training? If so, PM me and let me know.

I am working for a client that is looking at Sharepoint as a possible DMS - still gathering requirements which will be the initial project activity.

Look forward to hearing from you.........!!

I'm no techie, just a safety bod....

Previous clientco had sharepoint. They used it for their "intranet".

Was dead easy for the users (if the pages were set up logically).

They then launched it with the minimum of training (1 hour) for people to self administer their sites. I found it easy to use (within the limitiations set) but others (also none techie) struggled.

        WHS.

I've set up and given basic training in it.

From the little experience I have of Sharepoint, it's like a lot of these out-of-the-box things... works fine out-of-the-box, but god help you if you want to customise it or do anything mildly unusual with it. There seems to be a permanent high demand for developers with experience of webparts and the like. Grim stuff, IMHO. (Some people like that kind of thing though, and are probably being handsomely paid for it.)

Thanks everyone! I am having some meetings this week and I should find out more from ClientCo about what they are planning and if I need to look for resources etc etc.

I will keep you informed - watch this space.

SHAREPOINT PROJECT MANAGER Required to help push through a time critical project based in Warrington. The ideal candidate must have a track record in delivering projects (Sharepoint) based on this type of architecture. We need someone that will be able to get to grips with the project from day one, push through some stalling planning/implementation of Sharepoint systems and steer the project to a successful conclusion in some tight timescales.

Very easy to get it going as a basic solution, however its the organisation of the data and getting the users to use it sensibly that will take all your time.

First define exactly what you want to achieve with it, pilot it until people start seeing lightbulbs then feed the bright ones. Revise your goals when you realise what the business wanted wasn't what they really needed.

Actually the basic sharepoint does a very good job at providing a controllable intranet. The web part development is not necessary to start saving real money. But it is very easy to create sprawl, don't let it happen.

Companies like Bamboo do some stonking web parts dirt cheap.
