5. I know you want a role in the midlands, but Berkshire is really close.
I had a similar scenario the other day when I applied for a role "based in the East Midlands", so I called up the agent and asked where specifically, she said........Edinburgh !!
I live in East Lancashire and was told by an agent they had put my CV, which they found on Monster, forward for an interview without first telling me.
According to the Agent, the client was very close to my home town and within "easy commuting distance." Turns out it was on the Scottish border!!!!
The other alternate I suppose is to find your own clients. I'm working with one contractor who rarely uses agents but instead networks widely and finds his own.
Funny thing is, my currenct conract of 9 months, I have not spoken to my agency once until today when she asked me if she had been happy with there service -I had to laugh!!
You actually managed to speak to your agent during a contract? Wow (s)he must really like you.
