    help

    hallo everybody,

i'm about to get a contract with a uk agency, to work in the netherlands for 3 months.
in italy things with contractors are quite different so i browsed this great forum to get rules/advices on what i shouldn't do and what i should negotiate.

hope there's someone out there so kind to reply to this few question

which is the real net salary percentage against the gross in the netherlands? they keep on saying that i'll get 70% of the rate (35 euros per hour) but i'm quite doubtful

should i trust my agency or should i search for a consultant to safeguard my interests?

i'm about to ask the notice period to be 2 weeks, is it a suitable period?

    #4
how many days after the last day of the month should i ask to be paid?
i've been reading about ppl who have to wait months

I assume you are Italian, do you have an Italian company or a UK ltd company??? if you have no company on your own I presume the agency is recommending you an umbrella... e.g ITACS??? if so I thought they were very expensive, I just appointed my own accountants for my UK company which works out a lot cheaper (I paid UK taxes not Netherlands)

I think you need to check Italian v Netherlands taxes and check out which one is better for you, hence pay the cheaper one... best thing is get an acountant who is aware of european taxes and he'll be advising you of best tax to pay.

With regards to notice period , try to negotiate a month instead of 2 weeks, but 2 weeks is not too bad for a 3 month contract. If they refuse 1 month, and you get renewed then negotiate for 1 month.

The payment is very tricky, most expect to be paid within 30 days from submitting an invoice , but some agencies get delays etc, which means you have to chase them etc, especially when it comes to the last month payment. If you appoint an umbrella company your life would be easier (assuming the umbrella company does not go bust and actually pay you insted of keeping the money :-), but again they are expensive !!!
