Depends on which part of the country. If you're working with a generous client in London, you might get £350 at a push. If you're working for the average client oop North, it's more likely to be £200-225.

Do java developers tend to get a higher rate than php? Just trying to get an understanding of the whole system...
Who gets the highest rates in the 'development' industry? Java? C++? PHP? etc.?
Generally speaking PHP is seen as a web scripting language, not a real coding language. I know a fair bit of PHP and HTML but I would not class myself as a coder.
