What are good places / Website for direct contracts currently? I'm looking for a Manchester / Rochdale area Ruby dev, but dont want agencies and the initial project is only small, but may lead to more so dont want to pay for an advert.

Job Centre????
Seriously though. If you don't have the contacts already, then you're about to find out why agencies exist. They're not just parasitic organisations. They do actually find people.
The entire industry for search and selection of people has grown around the people who know how to do it.
So if your contacts are crap, and you are desperate to not use a professional, then cough up for LinkedIn premium and buy a subscription service to JobServe.
Or hope you get lucky.See You Next TuesdayComment
