    M25

Does anyone use the southern section M25 -clockwise in the mornings?

What are the times to avoid - i.e. what time do I have to get up to miss the rush hour around M3 / M4 interchange?

For a rough guess before 7:30 am or after 9:30 am.

Is that from experience? - I used to do a similar journey 20 years ago - I imagine it's much worse than that now

this is more or less right, around 7am is not too bad, I'd go for after 10am though

Did this daily until about 3 months ago. Journey time between A3 and M4 junctions typically about 40 mins - I was joining at the A3 junction (J10) about 7:45am/8am and leaving at the M4 junction.

The slowest section was between the A3 and M3. Between the M3 and M4 (assuming no incidents), normally cruising at about 50/60mph.

The biggest problem is that the M25 is so close to capacity that even one small incident can have a huge impact. There were occasions when the journey would take me 2 hours.

I get on the M25 at junction 7 and need to get to the M4. I get off M25 at J12, join the M3 and then get off that to go through Bracknell to get to the M4. if I stayed on M25 until the M4 exit I'd go through all the Heathrow traffic. I normally join the M25 at about 7.30 and get on the M4 at about 8.50. To be fair I haven't tried staying on the M25 yet but all of the route advisors have suggested the way I go.

What junction does the M25 bring you out onto the M4? I go from J10 to 16 at the moment at it takes between 20 and 40 mins.

I go from Junc 7 to LHR (13) and it takes me approx 45 mins if I get on just before 7am. Worst juncs for congestion are 10 & 11 but when you get through those the stretch around to LHR is fine (60mph'ish)
