    Fixed term contract

Has anybody been approached by any company about 'fixed term contract'. It sounds like pretty stupid idea(you get a salary but only for duration of contract), worse of both worlds, was wondering why would anybody accept it.

They are basically for permies hoping to turn it into a permie role, not contractors.
