I didn't even read your initial post carefully it seems, because I overlooked the fact that you had been out of contract for a few months. Was this because no opportunities presented itself, nothing came off or because you wanted a break? Either way, I would have thought a significant gap in your CV would be more of a problem for potential future customers than you plying your trade in multiple industries.

Umm, it's kind of a long story but I was terminated after 8 months at my last role because a permie wanted me to lie for her about a budget issue, I wouldn't, she followed me into the street and screamed at me, still I wouldn't...very scarey and messy. (hence my being nervous about another contract role)

I had a break to do some art stuff (which is my real passion) and to recover from the nightmare that was my first contract...

I bet you guys think I am a real numpty now !

Not at all. Some of us do other things all the time. Someone on here opened a shop, went backpacking and sold stuff through it.

As someone said, you are probably best to take the role at this time of the year or you could find yourself out work until Jan.

Sounds like the permie woman was the strange one. You stood up for yourself and remained calm and professional like any good contractor would have (well OK i'd have rolly shoutd back at her and told her where to stick her job, but hey ).
