BBC: Faulty 20p coins 'worth £50 each'

I think I had some of these last week.

Of course the new Lion's design is on the new 2008 dated ones too so you may have had one of those (just checked my pockets and though i had one for a sec).

I have nearly a £1000 in change in a big bowl at home which has accumulated from my vast pocket change, will have to sift through tonight I reckon, Steptoe and Son style... Glad I didn't take it to the coinstar at Sainsburys now.

Damn I just changed £500,000 in 20p pieces to pound coins.

I guess that if you got hold of one, it would be relatively easy to melt down some with dates and make a few thousand 50 pounders.
