West 28th Street Limited

I can now see why Trethowans were pointing you to the legal groups. I'm sure they'd rather be dealing with a handful of lawyers than all you lot. :D I hope they and W28 are cursing.

I'll fall off my chair if this turns out to be anything other than a shakedown and gets anywhere near a courtroom.

Agreed. One dispute in writing per person, documents requested, nothing paid. Make them deal with each of us. Individually defended claims are what make the economics fail for them.

I'm sure their end game is hoping for group based £% settlements.

As people are saying, having to deal with multiple law firms for individual people isn't in their financial planning runbook.

Dealing with individuals is bad enough, but if those individuals engaged a law firm, then Trethowans simply cannot take the same attitude with a law firm that they have with a name on a spreadsheet.

To start with, a lawyer won't engage in the nonsense of anonymous email addresses, they will want to know the name of the fee earning lawyer dealing with the matter.

West 28th Street Limited — the numbers from their own filed accounts

West 28th Street Limited (company number 13231491) files accounts at Companies House, and anyone can download them for free. These are the figures from the most recent set — year ended 31 March 2026. Nothing added; just the record:

  • Net liabilities: £1,110,968 (previous year: £16,416)
  • Cash at bank: £22,020
  • Creditors due within one year: £4,101,378 — of which “other loans”: £4,095,380
  • Paid to a shareholder (Limelight Solutions Limited) during the year: £459,992
  • Ownership: 50/50, Limelight Solutions Limited and West 13th Street Limited
  • Employees: 1
  • Acquired debts carried as “Stocks” (inventory): £2,597,548, at cost, “impaired as a portfolio”
  • Revenue recognised “in the period in which the claim is realised”
  • Accounts unaudited; prepared on a going-concern basis
One observation, and I’ll leave the rest to you: a book of loans owed to a lender is normally carried in the accounts as receivables — money owed in. These are instead recorded as stock — inventory, held at what was paid for it — with income booked only when a claim is actually realised. That is not how a conventional loan book is usually recorded.

Download them and draw your own conclusions: Companies House, company number 13231491.

I need to quote this because there is something that is confusing me.

Did anyone else get an email from Trethowans saying their client “has no concerns in respect of limitation”. If so, did you then receive a Letter of Claim that also said the claim had to be issued early “due to limitation constraints”?
Yes. I disputed the claim and cited a few reasons. They replied with their boiler plate SAR response that had no bearing on any of the points I raised. I then received the latest Letter of Claim pack on Saturday. I've not yet replied to either their proforma letter to say it answers none of my points, nor their Letter of Claim but do intend to. I'll simply ask them to reply to my dispute letter with answers, not an incorrect proforma response

why would you settle? you want to pay them back your earnings? F**k them
Anyone thinking of settling be very careful - we have users in here who did and are now being pursued for the full amount. I for one and instructing my solicitor to deal with this. I recommend also contacting the FCA and other groups ot investigate this matter.. I am not a finacial advisor and thisis not financial advice.
