So EBT@trethowans are forwarding (or trying to) all messages to enquiries@west28th interesting
It's not unusual for a law firm to provide this information directly to their clients but it does raise the question: who is active here? There's no named solicitor and no named supervising partner. Who is actually receiving, reviewing and acting on correspondence submitted to Trethowans' EBT address?

That needs answering.

Because west 28th are using Trethowans as a front to intimidate us. Trethowans aren't even reading the emails we are sending them. They are being auto forwarded to West 28th.

Is this even allowed? Is this not a mistake representation?

Trethowans are forwarding but also they are responding via email. This happened to me last week. Albeit, their response was their generic nonsense.

This is what I meant when I said I am genuinely intimidated by corresponding electronically.

You don't see what goes, what appears as a glitch, what the alternative you may use.

This is totally personal but frankly I am utterly paranoid about it.

I only send snail mail and only to original sender. I got something from entityA.

They so desperately tried to instruct them to send to entityB, use portalC... and repeatedly.

No you _._._._._ if I am going to respond with anything it all goes back to entityA.

My paranoia here is that they may be setting a trap.

The same goes for the forms they send.

They can F OFF.

One nice day, I was drinking my coffee, being happy with my life... and some letters came in...

Accusing me of something, demanding something of me, and they presented options.

Like F I will fill their templates.
I'll just respond disputing everything in my own writing.

If a day will see me in court, and a judge asked me how you challenged, I'd say I wrote back with that...

You have no statute obligation to respond in their fashion. Sure your solicitor might beg to differ - but here's more paranoia now: fundamentally there is a limit to how a solicitor has your best interests at heart. They would become compromised when they see one approach fetching more cash to them than another for the same exact thing.

Anyway. This is not advice - is about being super paranoid.

Every letter and email is signed only "Trethowans LLP" or "Trethowans EBT Claims", with no named solicitor. Trethowans' own website has a Commercial Debt Recovery page that lists its recoveries team, but nothing public says who handles the EBT work, so the right thing is to ask the firm. Write to ebt@trethowans.com and request the name and SRA number of the solicitor with conduct of your matter, and the name of the supervising partner. Please keep it to the firm's official address rather than emailing individual staff, because that only gives them something to complain about. If the firm won't say who is responsible, that's worth including in any SRA report (sra.org.uk/report).
Not legal advice.

Just a few points,

No. 1 The latest round of letters are designed to scared you, if you read very carefully they can currently only collect money from you if do so voluntarily.

No. 2 DO NOT INGORE the latest letter. This is very important. DO NOT reply until you have sought legal advice. You do not want give any more information than you have to, you also do not want to accidentally put yourself in position where you open yourself to Trethowans.

Trethowans are going to court, it is happening, this is step 1.

I can no not stress how important it is to seek legal advice before proceeding because every single interaction, any documents you send etc have / to Trethowans, West 28 and Ethica could potentially be used against you.

Trethowans are banking on people doing something that opens themselves up.

I can not stress how underhand Trethowans are, what levels they are prepared to stoop to get you into a position where you end up on hook because they know to fight them court is going to very expensive.

This is why I will stress to seek Legal Council before replying to any Trethowans

Why should I respond to them at all? You say it is very important to not ignore them.. why? You also seem to know for sure that Trethowans are going to court, you cannot be certain of this.

I think we need to remind ourselves what this is really about and stop getting distracted by the noise.

We worked, submitted timesheets or invoices and received money we had earned. The scheme operators structured those payments as so-called loans, and now, years later, companies are demanding repayment.

We know we did not take out genuine loans. We know this was our earned income, not money borrowed from a lender. Our position is clear: these alleged debts do not exist.

The best way to demonstrate this is to formally challenge the alleged debts and require these companies to prove otherwise.

The next steps are simple:

  1. Formally deny the existence of the alleged loans and any liability.
  2. Demand copies of all alleged signed credit agreements and evidence of the debts.
  3. Submit Subject Access Requests (SARs).
  4. Report suspected fraud to the police and raise concerns with the FCA.
  5. Respond promptly to any formal court proceedings.
We know what happened. We earned the money, we were paid for our work, and we dispute that any genuine debt was ever created.

The burden is on those demanding repayment to establish that legally enforceable debts exist.

Let's stop chasing the noise and challenge the very foundation of these claims. No proven loan, no established debt, no basis for repayment.
This.
Clearly we were mis-sold. Lured into an EBT scheme, only to find out it was a scam all along.
Follow the money (our salary) and its clear what this actually is.
