    Got an Interview!!

good luck ... well done ... anything has gotta be better than watching "cash in the attic" every day !!

    How worried are you?

Been on the bench for 2+ months, can survive for quite awhile but this would mean digging into savings that I don't really want too e.g. ISA. Nothing much around ... not had even one interview. Wouldn't say I was frightened ... trying to get loads of DIY jobs done whilst waiting for something...

Are permie rates now surpassing contract rates?

Back in January when I was finishing up my last gig I was offered a role at £360 per day to which I replied "nah, i'm not that desperate yet, I want to see what's out there" ... well just show me their hand now so I can bite it off ...

... then buy up a load of toxic mortgages ... reposess those homes and hey ... robert's your father's brother ... I like this plan <grin>

Are permie rates now surpassing contract rates?

I think this whole "recession" is just designed to re-distribute wealth ... now how the hell do I get on the receiving end?!

Are permie rates now surpassing contract rates?

Tee hee ... agree ... how could you have time for any IT having learnt all that? Just recently I was in for a role where they started out asking for knowledge of a certain area as "desirable". As I had experience in that area with 3 different products my CV went straight to the client. They...

Are permie rates now surpassing contract rates?

I didn't think I would ever consider going back to permie, but can't see the economic sense in staying contracting if rates go this low i.e. I may as well get the paid holidays and just put up with the crap until the market changes. Needless to say I've started looking for permie roles also now ...

    Having fun with psychotic neighbour…..

Don't go there ... try and make peace if you can ... as it can escalate ... I started down that road with one of our neigbours after a bit of tit-for-tat, but then nipped it in the bud after watching one of those "neighbours from hell" programs!

Are permie rates now surpassing contract rates?

Just saw this on jobserve ... I'm rubbing my eyes but they assure it is not a mis-print: > BUSINESS ANALYST, MANCHESTER, £129-£145p/d. > > Business Analyst, Local government, Council, Public sector, service > improvement, service redesign, process mapping, stakeholder liaison, > Prince2. >...

Decent agencies for public sector BA

Approach I would use is to pick some of the main jobsites (e.g. CWJobs, Jobserve, Jobsite) and then search for all BA jobs on there. Pick out the public sector jobs (which will be evident from the job desc) and then make a note of the agency advertising the role.

    Market Doesnt Look So Bad

Been on the bench for 2+ months and not had one interview. Had CV go to a number of clients ... but all jobs were withdrawn. Rates are way down and clients very specific re skills required. Hoping things will pick up by late April/May. Based in the north west.

well I thought we were all rocket scientists ...

    Jobs(w)erve

I hate Monster also ... never use it. My mainstay is cwjobs, jobserve and jobsite ... but in reality most of these have the same jobs anyhow!

    job seekers allowance ...

Thanks folks ... some very good advice ... I think I will crack on and claim the JSA as 6 weeks on the bench could easily become 6 months ...

    job seekers allowance ...

For starters I'm with an umbrella ... in fact ... a few weeks back they sent me an email saying they would "sack me" after 8 weeks <grin> ... I do have savings ... but there are 2 types of JSA ... one of which does not appear to be means tested i.e. as long as you've paid your NI. It's not...
